
Data from the Regional Statistics Service reveals that dairy factories in the Azores decreased cheese production and increased the production of powdered and UHT milk in the first six months of this year.
From January to June this year, dairies produced 16,131 tons of cheese, 1,452 tons less than in the same period last year.
On the other hand, the factories produced 6,534 tons of powdered milk in the same period, 773 tons more than in the same six months of 2022, and 59,580 thousand liters of UHT milk, 4,659 thousand liters more than in the same period last year.

The dairies also increased butter production from 5,761 thousand kilos of butter from January to June 2022 to 6,534 thousand kilos of butter in the same period this year. Cream production rose from 60,000 liters last year to 52,000 liters this year.
Yoçor yogurt production continues to grow year on year, from 319 tons in the first six months of last year to 401 tons in the same period this year.
According to the Regional Statistics Service, in the first six months of this year, milk producers in the Azores delivered 2.3 million fewer liters than last year.
