The Azores Tourism Indicator, released yesterday by the SREA, predicts that there will have been around 321,000 overnight stays in October across the region in all tourist accommodation establishments (hotels, local accommodation, and rural tourism).
This estimate of overnight stays is 4.6% higher than the final figure for the same month last year (307.0 thousand).
IT-Açores aims to estimate the general evolution of economic activity in the tourism sector in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
The SREA also revealed that purchases in the Azores in October using Automated Payment Terminals (POS) reached 145.5 million euros, a year-on-year increase of 6.9%. Around 128.1 million euros came from purchases made with national bank cards, representing a year-on-year increase of 5.4%, and around 17.4 million euros came from purchases made with international bank cards, representing a year-on-year increase of 19.0%.
