The Judicial Police, through the Azores Criminal Investigation Department, with the collaboration of the National Republican Guard – through its Cinotechnical Section – identified and arrested a 33-year-old woman for the crime of drug trafficking.
The arrest took place as part of a police operation carried out in the municipality of Ponta Delgada, which led to the seizure of approximately 15 kilos of hashish and one kilo of cocaine, totaling more than 35,000 average daily individual doses.
The detainee was brought before a court for questioning, and the coercive measure of pre-trial detention was applied to her.
Police authorities in the Azores have seized various quantities of cannabis plants, hashish, synthetic drugs, heroin, and cocaine.
Synthetic drugs, which, according to consumers, have the same effect as heroin and cocaine and are much cheaper, have a growing weight in the seizures made by the Azorean police authorities.
