
The monthly information on the employment market, analyzed by the Institute for Employment and Vocational Training, reveals that in December 2023, compared to the same month of the previous year, unemployment rose in all regions of the country, with the exception of the Azores and Madeira.
“At regional level, in December 2023, with the exception of the Azores (-14.8%) and Madeira (-24.0%), unemployment increased year-on-year, with the highest figure in the Alentejo region (+9.6%),” the information now released states.
“In relation to the previous month, with the exception of the Azores, the trend is also for unemployment to rise, with the greatest variation occurring in the Algarve region (+18.4%),” it adds.
The variation compared to November last year was 0.6% less, equivalent to 27 individuals. Between December 2022 and the same month last year, unemployment in the archipelago.
Last month, 4817 people were registered as unemployed in the Azores. In December 2022, there were 5657.
