In the early elections in the Autonomous Region of the Azores next Sunday, February 4, 11 candidates will be standing to elect 57 deputies. In coalition are PSD/CDS- PP/PPM and CDU (PCP/PEV). The other parties are standing alone: Partido Socialsta (PS), PAN (Pessoas-Animais- Natureza), Bloco de Esquerda (BE), CHE- GA, JPP (Juntos pelo Povo), Iniciativa Li- beral (IL), ADN (Alternativa Democrática Nacional) and Livre.
According to the lists, the PS, the PSD/CDS-PP/PPM Coalition, the CDU, the BE, CHEGA, PAN (People, Animals, Nature), Livre, and ADN are running in all ten constituencies in these regional elections, including the regional constituency of Compensation, and the IL is running in all constituencies, except Flores and Corvo.
The JPP has lists for São Miguel, Terceira, Faial, Flores, Santa Maria, and the Compensation constituency. Alternativa 21 (MPT/Aliança) is running only on the island of Santa Maria.
On the ballot paper, the island constituency randomly selected the parties.
According to the Entidade das Contas e Financiamentos Políticos, the Electoral Campaign Budgets submitted by the Political Parties and Electoral Coalitions running for election to the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of the Azores are presented on its official online page. Thus, the estimated spending figures for this election campaign are broken down.
The Socialist Party has a state subsidy of 352,572.80 euros, a party contribution of 4,000 euros, and plans to raise 5,000 euros in funds. The spending forecast for the Azorean Socialists is estimated at 361,572.80 euros.
The Center-Right Coalition (PSD/CDS/PPM) will receive a state subsidy of 300,000 euros and expects a party contribution of 20,000 euros. The coalition’s expenses, therefore, amount to 330 thousand euros.
CHEGA-Açores has a party budget of 100,000 euros, with no record of a state subsidy.
The Left Bloc has a state subsidy of 39,730 euros and 300 euros through fundraising. As a result, the Azorean Bloc expects to spend approximately 40,030 euros.
The IL has budgeted for 40,000 euros in state subsidies, 5,000 euros in party contributions, and 5,000 euros in fundraising, totaling around 50,000 euros.
The CDU (PCP/PEV coalition) plans to spend the same amount as IL, i.e., 45,000 euros in state subsidies, plus a party contribution of 4,000 and 1,000 euros through fundraising, making a total of 50,000 euros.
The PAN expects to spend 15,000 euros on state subsidies, the same for Livre, but 5,000 euros, and the JPP (Juntos pelo Povo) with 15,000 euros. ADN plans to spend 6,000 euros without a state grant but with a party contribution of 4,000 and 2,000 euros through fundraising. Alternativa 21 plans to spend 3,000 euros on the campaign, which is raised through fundraising.
