
The recent bad weather caused some flooding on the island of S. Miguel, with heavy rain hitting parishes such as Sete Cidades, Santo António, Capelas, Arrifes, and other western areas.
Some damage has been recorded, and the Civil Protection services, namely the fire department, have been called to the scene.
The IPMA had already issued a yellow warning due to the approach and passage of a depression with an associated frontal system, causing the weather to worsen on all the islands.
Two people were displaced in Faial.
Around two dozen incidents were recorded on Saturday on the island of Faial.
The situations concern flooding in homes, with two people displaced; falling structures and obstruction of roads with debris, with the corresponding closure to traffic; landslides, landslides, and wall collapses; falling trees; and damage to municipal infrastructures, which are gradually resolved.
The Municipal Civil Protection Service, the Fire Brigade of the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Faial, the Parish Councils, the PSP, Public Works, the Forestry Services, and other Civil Protection agents are participating in and accompanying the various interventions.
Horta City Council accompanied the work carried out by the Municipal Civil Protection and municipal road maintenance teams during the clean-up operations.
