The acclaimed American television series “Maria’s Portuguese Table” by Azorean Maria Lawton triumphed at the 45th Annual Telly Awards, winning seven prizes.
This recognition highlights the series’ video and television production excellence across multiple platforms.
“Maria’s Portuguese Table” secured three Silver Telly Awards in the reality, unscripted and documentary categories.
In addition, the series won four Bronze Telly Awards in the culture, travel and tourism, food and drink, and entertainment categories. This remarkable achievement highlights the program’s broad appeal and excellent quality in various aspects of television production.
Maria Lawton expressed her enthusiasm by recalling that in the first season, she received two Telly awards, and this time, she won seven.
And she thanked the excellent production team led by Dean Câmara from Cineasta Digital Productions.
“Maria’s Portuguese Table” is more than a cooking show; it’s Maria Lawton’s love letter to her Portuguese heritage. The series takes viewers on a culinary journey through the rich, vibrant culture of the Azores islands.
Maria, by the way, was born on the island of São Miguel.
“Maria’s Portuguese Table” is also nominated for the New England Emmy Awards, which will be presented on June 8 at the Marriott Hotel in Boston.
“The Azores are very special, and I’m going back in October.”
After receiving the awards, Maria Lawton spoke to Diário dos Açores.
She began by saying that “the second season of your shows has been receiving so many awards and accolades… We won the “Taste Award” for Best TV Travel Series last month and were nominated for an “Emmy”, also for the second season (the awards will be presented next month). Now we’ve received 7 Telly Awards!”.
She continues: “I’m very grateful not only for all these awards, but also very proud to show our culture all over the country! They have taught me that hard work and persistence go a long way… always ahead is the motto to follow.”
Maria Lawton hasn’t forgotten her Azorean origins and has recorded several programs about our cuisine and culture in the Azores.
“All my visits to the Azores, whether traveling to see family, for Food Tours or to film the series, have always been very special. A part of my heart is always left behind when I leave.”
And he reveals in conclusion:
“I should be back in October, and as for what I like about our Azorean cuisine, it’s easy…. Everything!!!”.
