Paula Gouveia is the new editor-in-chief of the newspaper Açoriano Oriental. The journalist, who has held the position of interim director, will officially take over the editorial leadership of the oldest Portuguese newspaper in circulation.

Paula Gouveia has a degree in social communication from the Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas of the University of Lisbon and has been at Açoriano Oriental since 2001, having worked as deputy director, editor, and editorial coordinator. She has also worked for Antena 1/Açores and TSF/Açores and has collaborated occasionally with Diário de Notícias. She was also a member of the organizing committee for the First Congress of Journalists of the Azores in 2023.
