The Mayor of Horta expressed his willingness to be a partner in the immediate solution to be found for the 15 users of the HP convalescent home, in the parish of Cedros, which is scheduled to close this month.
Carlos Ferreira stressed that “this is a difficult situation, namely a private investment, in which the owner refused to create an IPSS to receive government support and now faces the possibility of closing the doors without a solution for the 15 elderly who live in the home.
In this process, the Mayor has been following up the matter with the Regional Secretary for Health and Social Security, Mónica Seidi, whom he praises “for her concern in finding effective solutions, even though this is a private investment”, and has also contacted the owner of the space, the Parish Council, and the provider of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia da Horta, and also met with the families of two of the patients of the home.
