
In July 2024, in the Azores, 1,410,743 kg of fish were unloaded at auction (not including discarded fish or stews, or seaweed not intended for human consumption) with a total value of 4,820,577 euros, of which 1,369,302 kg were fish (97.1%), corresponding to 90.3% of the total monetary value of unloadings.
Around 33.9% of landings were made on São Miguel island and 34.7% of the total value of sales was generated on this island. The island of Corvo had the highest average price (12.05 euros/kg), considerably higher than the regional average (3.42 euros/kg).
In terms of variation, the volume of fish unloaded at auction fell by 35.7% compared to the same month last year, increased by around 41.5% compared to the previous month, and fell by 23.0% on average over the last 12 months.
Concerning the value of fish unloaded at auction, there was a negative year-on-year monthly variation of 26.6%, a positive variation of 17.5% this month, and an average variation of 11.2% over the last 12 months.
