IDENTITY | Where’s ours, America? During this election and while in Portugal and the Azores this summer, I finally realized that America lacks something significant. Something so simple that it is so easy to overlook. Maybe even some think that IDENTITY is not essential. It is. It is the complete essence of our being if you will! It helps the people have a strong sense of who they are & what they are about. It’s a “domino effect,” for sure! If you really think about it ~ it makes perfect sense. Lack of IDENTITY looks to be the root of the issue here. As a nation, we are so confused, miserable, unmotivated, divided, “lost in the sauce” & much more! Belonging to a country with a strong sense of IDENTITY and purpose is very important. Maybe someday I can belong to one. We have no IDENTITY here. “IDENTITY crisis.” This is why America has been in so much turmoil for so long while other countries progress & have progressed & have their “things together” more so than us! At times, we ARE the laughingstock of the world. There is no respect for America or Americans, and it’s a crap*y feeling!
Where you once may have had pride in saying, “I’m American“, NOT anymore…
It changes a person…
And it changes a nation.
There are two things here that I see:
1) Those countries with IDENTITY are for their people, whereas America is for money, run by money, existing for money! “Money is the root of all evil,” no wonder why everything got all messed up throughout the years.
2) We are lost and confused, which causes distress, while other countries do not have the problems we have here because their IDENTITY is clear and they have a strong pride in who they are!
If you can do anything today, I ask you to not feed into the media’s mission of wanting to further divide us… Take a moment to look at this picture of Lady Liberty standing tall, strong & beautiful…
- I want you to think about what she means to you…
- What being American means to you…
- What this country means to you…
- Where’s the American pride?
- WHAT is American pride?
- Are we really the land of the free?
- Have we changed?
- What are your true feelings?
Feel free to jot down what you feel and think, and submit to share @ marisarod89@gmail.com ~ would love to hear your perspective on this subject!
