
This weekend, the Port of Funchal welcomes two cruise ships bringing 9,000 people to the region.
The Celebrity Apex docked this morning with 2,832 passengers and 1,294 crew, leaving at 4pm for Spain as part of an 11-night cruise from Southampton, which has already passed through Porto, Lisbon, Gran Canaria, and Tenerife, followed by Funchal, Coruña and the return to the port of origin on October 21. On April 20 next year, the sipp returns to Madeira.
Tomorrow sees the arrival of the ‘Sky Princess’, which is traveling with 3,674 passengers and 1,364 crew members on board. Thus, 9,164 people will pass through Funchal’s Bay between today and tomorrow.
The ‘Princess of the Sky’ will hover over the region’s waters until 4:30 p.m. this Sunday, when it will leave for Tenerife. This will continue the 12-night cruise, which began in Southampton and ends on October 28.
