The Regional Secretary for Health and Social Security attended the Cine Teatro Lagoense to mark the first anniversary of the Lagoa Health Center’s opening.
Various entities from the sector and the municipality of Lagoa attended the event, and Mónica Seidi expressed her satisfaction at the resolution of a problem that, for the Regional Government, could not persist: “Lagoa was the only municipality on the island that did not have a health center. In a municipality with more than 14,000 inhabitants, we felt that this situation had to be changed.”
Extinguishing the old Health Unit to create a new Health Centre brought several benefits to the community because “it was with the project to create the Lagoa Health Centre that we were able to reorganize the services to provide a more effective response to the population,” explained the Secretary for Health and Social Security.
She continued, “At stake is the accessibility of users to health care, the creation of new spaces and services, and an investment by the Regional Government worth 75 thousand euros.”
The creation of the Lagoa Health Center has significantly improved the operation of some services, such as the Treatment and Injection Room and the Complementary Care Service, as well as nutrition, psychology and social services, mental health, home care, and support for informal caregivers.
“All of this is a source of pride for us, because it reflects what we deeply believe in, which is the work done in a joint effort between the Regional Government and the living forces of a community,” said Mónica Seidi.
