The plant exchange party at “Quinta Única” in Rabo de Peixe was a real success this autumn, organized by the couple Adman and Zipporah Travis, Americans who decided to make São Miguel their home. Initially attended by the American community, the party has attracted more and more people from São Miguel, who come together to share their plants of various species.
The warm and friendly atmosphere that formed last Sunday among the orange groves of the Quinta was contagious. Participants brought their plants, fruit, and seeds, exchanging experiences and knowledge about gardening. Even those who didn’t get plants were able to take home various plantings for their gardens, such as flowers and seeds.
This celebration of nature and community life strengthens the bond between cultures and promotes a spirit of solidarity among gardening enthusiasts. The “Quinta Única” was once again a unique meeting point, where the exchange of plants went far beyond the simple act of gardening, creating a genuine network of friendship and sharing.
As well as exchanging plants, participants had the opportunity to taste a variety of foods and flavors from different cultures. The highlight was the orange wine, produced by the Travis couple with fresh oranges from Quinta Única itself. This refreshing and unique wine was a real hit with visitors.
The atmosphere was made even livelier by the sound of good music, which accompanied the conversations and laughter. The combination of flavors and melodies created a festive atmosphere where everyone could celebrate cultural diversity and a passion for gardening. The party was not just an event to exchange plants but a true celebration of living together, uniting people around shared interests, and a love of nature.
