“A dialogue about the Azores and its products” is what, according to António Ventura, is taking place in Lisbon at the TasteAzores Colombo event until November 3rd. More than two dozen Azorean companies are taking part,

According to the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Food, who is promoting the initiative and participating, “the event is an opportunity for Azorean companies, with the qualification of the Azores Brand, to make direct contact with consumers, which goes much further than just selling.”

“Azorean agri-products are increasingly an example of naturalness and sustainability with international recognition, so consumers are interested in knowing about their production and processing processes and all the history that surrounds them,” said the secretary to the DI newspaper.

For the Azores Brand portfolio head, “the presence of Azorean businesspeople at this event provides multiple advantages for the Azores because they are ambassadors, especially in the fields of tourism, catering, agriculture, fishing, and hotels.”

He added that “the name of the Azores has a very high reputation in the world in all economic areas.”

Jams, liqueurs, honey, cookies, cheeses, butter, teas, pineapples, milk, and yogurt are just some of the products featured in the initiative. Other important areas in the Azores, such as jewelry and handicrafts, will also be present.

The TasteAzores event is now in its sixth edition and has proved to be a success in raising awareness of the Azores’ agri-products, according to a regional government official.

BUSINESS

Throughout the event, participating companies can develop contacts with distributors and retailers, taking advantage of the promotional action and Lisbon’s presence “to continuously and consistently expand the offer of products and services from the Azores on the national market.”

António Ventura guarantees that the event’s presence will be maintained next year and that the Azores Brand will participate in similar initiatives in the north of the country.

In the meantime, he announced the Azores’ participation in Lisbon Food Affair 2025, from February 10 to 12, at the Lisbon International Fair (FIL) and “a significant presence” at the Ovibeja Fair in the Alentejo.

The Azores Brand has 305 member companies with 6421 stamps awarded. The average growth rate of stamps over the last eight years is 43.2%, and the average growth rate of companies is 25.32%.
