This Monday, in the Salão Nobre of Funchal Town Hall, 43 projects were handed over to support families from various parishes in Funchal as part of ‘+ Habitação’, a project developed by ASA (Santo António Development Association), which represents an investment of 111,500 euros.
Most of the support is intended to purchase building materials and equipment for the interiors of homes.

At the presentation of this support, which was attended by several parish council presidents, the mayor of Funchal, Cristina Pedra, stressed the importance of the project, supported by the Funchal Municipal Council with 310,000 euros, as well as praising the work of ASA, pointing out that this year’s support has reached a total of 76 families, who will now have better living conditions.
Stressing that housing is one of the biggest problems at the moment, the mayor of Funchal recalled the Municipal Housing Strategy, pointing out, among other measures, PRESERVA—Support for the Conservation, Repair, and Improvement of Degraded Housing, and the 33 dwellings that are currently being built in Nazaré.
She also pointed out that with the revision of Funchal’s Municipal Master Plan (PDM), the municipality intends to implement a “20% increase” in the construction of affordable housing.
Finally, Cristina Pedra thanked the presidents of the parish councils for their commitment, “the first holders and pillars” of the survey of the population’s needs, assuming that the Funchal council will do everything it can to guarantee a “decent” life for its residents.
