
Today’s three ships docked at the port of Funchal are handling more than 6,600 people, including crew and passengers. All three include the Atlantic islands in their itineraries.
The ‘Mein Schiff5’ arrived from Lanzarote with 2,527 passengers and 912 crew for a 16-hour stopover on this 7-night cruise with stops in Madeira and four Canary Islands.
The ‘Spirit of Adventure’comes from La Palma with 920 passengers and 499 crew. Departure is scheduled for 5 p.m. for Portsmouth, the port of origin and end of this 14-night cruise, which began on November 7, with stops in A Coruña, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Palma, Funchal, and Portsmouth.
Finally, the ‘Marina ‘ is on a repositioning voyage to St. John. It arrived from Lisbon with 999 passengers and 760 crew and will also leave Madeira around 5pm. This is a 42-night cruise but offers the possibility of shorter itineraries. It started on October 16 and has already been called at various ports in the Adriatic Sea, the Mediterranean, and the Canary Islands, now in Funchal, followed by St. John’s, Puerto Rico, and Miami. The ship will be stationed in the southern hemisphere until April next year, and on its repositioning trip to Europe, it will be called at the Port of Funchal.
