The Azores Tourism Indicator, released yesterday by the SREA, predicts that there will have been around 370,500 overnight stays in the month of October in all tourist accommodation establishments (hotels, local accommodation, and rural tourism) in the Azores.
This estimate of overnight stays is 12.4% higher than the final figure for the same month last year (329.6 thousand).
It should be remembered that the Tourism Indicator (IT-Açores), which is the responsibility of the Azores Regional Statistics Service, is an advanced indicator and aims to estimate in advance the economic progress of the tourism sector in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, using the number of overnight stays in hotels (hotels, apartment hotels, tourist apartments and inns), local accommodation (10 and more beds and less than 10 beds) and rural tourism.

Payments for services created using bank cards at POS in the Azores totaled around 1.7 million euros, representing a year-on-year decrease of 7.4%.
