The Pico Wine Cooperative recorded a 7% increase in sales in 2024, reaching a record turnover of over two million euros. This growth reflects the sector’s recovery after the difficult years caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking to Antena 1 Açores, Losménio Goulart, president of Cooperativa do Pico, said: “We had growth compared to last year, in the order of 7%, which was what we had estimated in the budget plan. We’ve more or less maintained this uniform growth in the different areas of the business, exceeded 2 million, and probably stayed above 2 million 100 thousand euros overall.”
Losménio Goulart also explained that the regional market was responsible for around 1.4 million euros in sales, while the national and international markets each accounted for around 200 thousand euros. The good results have allowed the cooperative to settle debts accumulated during the pandemic and continue to invest in new products aimed at markets where Pico wines are more highly valued.
