“In its fifth edition, the “Varandas da Vila 2024” project is once again taking to the streets, decorating the balconies of Rua Principal de Vila Franca do Campo, in the parish of São Miguel and Rua de Nossa Senhora da Natividade, in the parish of São Pedro, in a Christmas tradition that aims to spread joy and color this festive season, in an initiative of ADV – Associação Desportiva da Vila.
“Spread color, spread joy! Decorate the village night and day” is the initiative’s slogan
The project began in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, to keep people busy at home by decorating the town’s balconies with red fabric Christmas pictures. The community’s support exceeded expectations, and many people collaborated with a smile and a sense of joy.
To implement the project, the ADV association, led by its president, Laura Brandão, had the support of the Vila Franca do Campo Town Council, São Pedro Parish Council, São Miguel Parish Council, and people from the community.
