The increases promised by the regional government in the region’s budget for 2025 are not enough to cope with the brutal increases in gas and fuel prices.
The Left Bloc accuses the regional government of giving with one hand and taking away with the other. While the region’s budget promises increases for 2025, these will be absorbed by the 29.89% increase in the price of gas and the rise in fuel prices in the region.
By way of example, the 3% increase in the value of the supplementary wage, which represents €2.53, will be completely absorbed by those who use a gas bottle at home.
Also, the 5% increase in the value of the family allowance supplement, which represents €1.31, will be completely absorbed when compared to the rise in gas prices.

For the Left Bloc, the government’s choice to increase gas and fuel, after a year with a surplus of 6 million euros in fuel tax collection, is unacceptable.
It should be remembered that the Left Bloc presented a proposal to amend the Region’s Budget for 2025 to reduce fuel prices in 2025, but the proposal was rejected with the PSD, CDS, PPM, CH, and IL voting against it.
For the Bloc, the regional government’s choice to raise transport and gas prices harms the majority of Azoreans. It results from the government’s commitment to lowering taxes for the richest and largest companies.
