
According to a press release, nine of the houses will be built on Rua de Jesus in the parish of Matriz and 19 on Rua das Canadinhas in the parish of Feteira. The work was awarded to Conduril Açores – Engenharia, S.A..
Carlos Ferreira, the mayor of Horta, said that signing the contract “marks the start of work on this project to create housing solutions for our population and to attract people from abroad to settle on the island of Faial.”
In the presence of the designers and inspectors, the mayor said that “Rua de Jesus will be home to nine apartments – three one-bedroom, three two-bedroom and three three-bedroom – whose construction contract is worth 1,469,514.97 euros (including VAT), with an execution time of 365 days”.
Aimed at the general population within the scope of affordable housing through regulations that will be drawn up and approved by the municipality, the work constituted a total municipal investment of 2,078,619.48 euros (including VAT) to be financed by the PRR.
Concerning the construction of 19 homes in Rua das Canadinhas, in the parish of Feteira, the mayor said that “this responds to the housing needs of 19 families, identified when the Local Housing Strategy was drawn up, under the
program,” through the construction of seven one-bedroom, five two-bedroom, four three-bedroom and three four-bedroom homes.
With a deadline of 425 days, this project involves a total investment of 3,442,444.86 euros (including VAT) by the municipality, financed by the PRR.
