Duarte Nuno Chaves, who chairs the Organizing Committee for the 50th Anniversary Commemorations of the UAc, attended the meeting, which underlined the importance of the role of the Azorean communities around the world.

During the meeting, future initiatives to promote a closer link between Azorean academia and the diaspora were discussed, strengthening the cultural, academic, and historical ties that unite the various generations of Azoreans living outside the archipelago.
