Today, January 25th, the Tulare-Angra do Heroísmo Sister City Foundation promotes a festival of soups to raise funds for many of its initiatives. The dinner is organized and put forth by the directors of the Foundation and features four soups, all-you-can-eat, and a dessert buffet. The four soups are Caldo de Couves Z(also known as sopa de labrador) with various meats, linguiça, and toucinho (Portuguese smoked bacon); Sopa de Peixe, with a variety of fish; Canja de Galinha (chicken soup) and Puré de Batata-Doce (a sweet potato soup with bacon).

This event normally attracts around 200 participants. A trick-trade raffle will also raise funds for the foundation.

In the past six years, the foundation has supported the exchange program of agricultural students from Fresno State with the University of the Azores in Terceira Island and vice versa.

No tickets are sold at the door.
