Ponta do Sol Town Hall will distribute around 150,000 euros to its three parishes this year. The inter-administrative contract was approved this Thursday at a town hall meeting.
“Around 150,000 euros will be distributed among the three parishes, in an allocation of powers that Ponta do Sol Town Council is making with its parishes and, it should be stressed, something that the Regional Government does not do with the Town Councils, which greatly hampers daily activity and the ability to resolve issues closer to the population,” said Célia Pessegueiro, mayor of the municipality, understanding that if the powers were in the hands of the municipalities there would be a greater capacity to respond.
At the same meeting, support was approved for the Madeira Royal Way Association, which will be making its eighth tour of the region, passing through the municipality of Ponta do Sol. The mayor praised the association’s work in promoting and recovering the royal ways.
Vote of congratulations to Jéssica
A vote of congratulations was also approved for Jéssica Rodrigues, the world champion ice skater.
“In this way, we express the great recognition we have for the athlete and the pride we feel as locals for this athlete’s ability to overcome and for such a high award, and we also express, of course, the efforts of Jéssica’s family for having managed to keep her in this activity and, of course, the club where she carries out this activity, which is the Clube Desportivo dos Prazeres,” said the mayor.
