The PS (Socialist Party) accuses the regional government of not being transparent about SATA’s Financial Sustainability Plan.
On January 17, the Socialists requested that the Economy Committee hear the chairman of SATA’s board of directors as soon as possible.
They also asked for the full disclosure of SATA’s Financial Sustainability Plan but allege that the executive has not responded so far.
“It is unacceptable that, less than 24 hours before the hearing of the chairman of SATA’s board of directors on this plan in the Economy Committee, the Regional Government has still not provided the document requested by the MPs, thus compromising in-depth knowledge of the measures it recommends,” said the leader of the PS parliamentary bench, Andreia Cardoso, yesterday, quoted in a press release.

The Socialist MP believes this is “a deliberate strategy to hide the failure of the restructuring plan, negotiated by this government with the European Commission, from the Azoreans.”
The president of SATA will be heard today in the Economy Committee. The Socialists believe that the hearing is essential to end the lack of transparency and to find out what the government’s real objectives are for SATA’s future.
“The PS/Açores does not accept this attempt at concealment and will continue to demand transparency and political responsibility in the management of SATA. Azoreans deserve clear answers and a serious debate on the future of the airline,” said Andreia Cardoso.
