According to information released by the Regional Command of the Azores PSP, between February 27 and March 5, 2025, there were 68 traffic accidents in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, which caused 20 injuries in addition to material damage.
The Regional Command of the Azores Public Security Police said in a statement that, during the period in question, 42 people were arrested, and five surveillance operations were carried out as part of the regular operational activity carried out by the Territorial Police Divisions and the Airport Security and Border Control Division.
Of the 42 arrests, 33 occurred in the Ponta Delgada Police Division, five in the Horta Police Division, and four in the Angra do Heroísmo Police Division.

In the Ponta Delgada Police Division, a 47-year-old resident of Vila Franca do Campo was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence against his spouse. In the municipality of Ponta Delgada, a 44-year-old man was arrested for the same crime.
Also in Ponta Delgada, a 43-year-old man was arrested for grand larceny inside a restaurant.
Two individuals, aged 22 and 25, were arrested on suspicion of shoplifting.
In the municipality of Ribeira Grande, a 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft from a vehicle.
In the municipality of Lagoa, a 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking. Also in Lagoa, two men, aged 29 and 34, were arrested for the same crime.
Also, in Lagoa, a 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of entering a place closed to the public.
Nine people, aged between 20 and 49, were also arrested in the municipalities of Ponta Delgada, Lagoa, Povoação, and Vila do Porto on suspicion of driving intoxicated and without a legal license.
Four people, aged between 32 and 57, were arrested for disobedience in the municipalities of Ponta Delgada and Lagoa.
An arrest and driving warrant was issued by the Judicial Authority for a 28-year-old man in the municipality of Lagoa to serve a nine-year prison sentence.
Nine arrest and driving warrants were also executed in various municipalities on the island of São Miguel to ensure the presence of those concerned at court proceedings.

In the Angra do Heroísmo Police Division, a 37-year-old man in the municipality of Praia da Vitória was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence against his partner.


In the municipality of Calheta, a 60-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Two arrest and driving warrants were executed in the municipality of Praia da Vitória to ensure the presence of those concerned at court proceedings.
Four individuals, aged between 22 and 58, were arrested by the Horta Police Division for drink-driving in the municipalities of Horta and Madalena do Pico.
In the municipality of Madalena do Pico, an arrest and driving warrant was executed to serve a five-month prison sentence for crimes against communications security.
Five road inspections were also carried out, including radar speed checks, in the municipalities of Horta, Santa Cruz das Flores, São Roque, and Madalena do Pico, and 18 violations of the Highway Code were detected.
The Airport Security and Border Control Division arrested a man in the municipality of Ponta Delgada in compliance with arrest and driving warrants issued by the Judicial Authority to serve a four-year prison sentence for crimes against property.
