António Maio, economist and leader of the Caixa Económica da Misericórdia de Angra do Heroísmo (CEMAH); Nuno Martins, economist and professor at the Catholic University (Porto), and Marcos Couto, leader of the Angra do Heroísmo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIAH), will speak this March in Angra do Heroísmo about the regional economy and the specific case of Terceira island.
According to a note sent to our newspaper, the Azores Regional Directorate of the Order of Economists initiative aims to debate and reflect on relevant issues of collective interest.
The first session of the “Tertúlia de Economia—Café com Números” initiative will take place on the 18th at 6.15 pm, with speakers Nuno Martins and Marcos Couto.
The topic under discussion will be “Terceira’s Economy: Challenges and Opportunities”.
The Regional Delegation of the Order of Economists and the “Lar Doce Livro” bookshop jointly organize this monthly gathering.
On the 26th, a lunch conference will be held, with António Maio as the speaker.
The theme will be “The Future of the Azorean Economy: Growth or Stagnation” and will be held at the QB Restaurant in Angra do Heroísmo.

SPACES FOR DISCUSSION
These events, according to the note sent to us, aim to fulfill one of the objectives of the Regional Delegation of the Order of Economists, which is “to develop and deepen spaces for discussion on economic issues in the region, contributing to a greater affirmation and appreciation of the role of economists in the Azores, deepening the Order’s role in society and establishing itself as a partner with an active voice in the political and economic decisions of the archipelago.”
The conferences promoted by the Order of Economists in the Azores will continue in April with the theme “Mobility and Transport in the Azores: Connection or Limitation. ” They will bring together businesspeople from the import and export sectors.
Camilo Moniz chairs the recently elected Board of the Order of Economists in the Azores, which includes Rui Luís and Fernando Guerra. Monteiro da Silva chairs the General Assembly, which has Mário Santos and Gilda Pimentel as secretaries.
