
In February 2025, 224.1 tons of fish (not including discarded fish, stews, or seaweed not intended for human consumption) were unloaded at auction in the Azores, totaling 1.8 million euros. Of these, 217.2 tons were fish (96.9%), corresponding to 96% of the total monetary value of unloadings.
More than half of the fish (147.6 tons), worth 944.8 thousand euros, was unloaded on the island of São Miguel.
More than half of the unloadings (65.9%) took place on the island of São Miguel, which generated 51.9% of the total sales value.
The island of Flores had the highest average price (17.07 €/kg), considerably higher than the regional average (8.12 €/kg).

Regarding variation, the volume of fish unloaded at auction fell by 41.8% compared to the same month last year, increased by 29.4% compared to the previous month, and fell by 0.7% on average over the last 12 months.
The value of fish unloaded at auction dropped 26.6% year over year, increased 28.2% this month, and averaged 1.1% over the last 12 months.
The average price rose 26% this month compared to last year’s, to 8.12 euros per kilo. However, it fell 0.9% from the previous month and 0.1% on average over the last 12 months.
