
Home prices on the island of Pico continued to grow in the first quarter of this year and are reaching new historic highs. Data from the real estate portal Idealista shows that the median house price rose by 11.3 percent by the end of March compared to the same period in 2023, standing at an average of 1,529 euros per square meter. Compared to December, there was a 3.6 percent increase. In the first three months of the year, the price of buying a house even reached a new all-time high in January, standing at 1,543 euros per square meter. This represents a positive change of around 13.1 percent compared to the same month in 2024. The data available for the municipality of Madalena indicates that in the first three months of the year there was an increase of 8.2 percent compared to the same period in 2024, with the value of the square meter standing at 1,774 euros, well above the values practiced in the same period in the municipality of Lajes. Idealista points out that at the end of March, the cost per square meter was 994 euros in that municipality, below the all-time high reached in January of around 1,000 euros per square meter.
