To date, more than 40 program contracts have been signed between the Municipality of Vila do Porto and various associations and entities in different areas, within the scope of the Municipal Regulation for Supporting Associations. The total value for 2025 is around 440,000 euros.

The Mayor pointed out that these agreements make it possible to financially support associations and projects that play a crucial role in promoting culture, sports, and civic participation among young people.

“Through this mechanism, the municipality encourages the promotion of activities that enrich local identity, boost tourism and contribute to social cohesion, ensuring that the population has access to a diverse and high-quality offer,” she added.

According to Bárbara Chaves, program contracts strengthen the partnership between local authorities and civil society organizations, promoting more efficient management of public resources. By establishing clear commitments and concrete objectives, transparency and accountability are ensured, ensuring that municipal support is used effectively.

“This cooperation strengthens the county’s associative fabric, encourages volunteering and creates opportunities for young people and athletes, contributing to a more dynamic, inclusive and attractive county for residents and visitors,” he said.

By making 80% of its financial support immediately available, the Vila do Porto municipality is helping associations and clubs to meet their commitments.

The Municipal Regulation on Support for Associations, implemented by the current Municipal Executive at the beginning of 2023, is a tool for clearly and objectively regulating support that takes into account the diversity and specificity of the municipality’s social, cultural, educational, sporting, and recreational activities and projects.
