The president of the PS/Azores and candidate for the legislative elections on May 18, Francisco César, defended the valorization of regional products and the increase in salaries as the party’s central commitments.
During a visit to the Conseran canning factory in Pico, Francisco César highlighted the importance of supporting industries that invest in genuinely Azorean products, such as fish, saying that “there is a clear strategy in the PS program to valorize what is special and produced in the Azores”.
The PS/Azores leader also addressed the party’s proposal to increase salaries, highlighting the commitments made in the Social Dialogue.
“We want the regional minimum wage to reach 1,165 euros by 2029 and the average wage to reach 2,000 euros, also by 2029,” he said.
On the occasion, Francisco César praised the investment of around 14 million euros in the Conseran factory, which currently employs 50 people and has the potential to create up to 200 jobs.
The candidate said, “The support of public entities, such as the Regional Government and the Government of the Republic, for companies that generate wealth locally,” is fundamental.
At a rally in Faial, Francisco César reiterated “the Socialists’ commitment to improving Public Service Obligations”. The PS/Azores president said, “The PS is also keeping its word with regard to the extension of the runway at Horta Airport.”
