Since May 16, the thirteenth edition of the international arts festival, Azores Fringe, has welcomed the work of over a hundred artists from various islands of the Azores, as well as from the north to the south of mainland Portugal, and from a dozen countries.
Exhibitions, talks, book presentations, performances, and the Shorts@Fringe short film sessions reached eight islands in the Azores. “This year, Santa Maria welcomed artist Marina Mendonça, who is building a sculpture for MiratecArts Galeria Costa,” says Azores Fringe founder Terry Costa, ”but it was the only island left out in terms of public or school events. All the other islands got a taste of Fringe in their live programming, which ends this week.”
On Saturday, June 28, AzoreanBeat invites artists to the event, which takes place from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Singer Misuzy and DJ Mel are part of the festivities at Cella Bar on Pico Island, closing the thirteenth edition of the Azores Fringe Festival.
André Neves, known as the AzoreanBeat producer, has been a MiratecArts collaborator since the cultural association was founded and has participated in various aspects, from the Azores Fringe to special events. This summer, he is a regular at Santo Rock in São Roque do Pico.
The art exhibition at the Madalena Library continues until the end of the month. Proposals for the next edition of the Azores Fringe Festival will be open from July 1 through the official website www.azoresfringe.com.
