The Mayor of Praia da Vitória, Vânia Ferreira, said yesterday that the Atlantic Gastronomy Fair, part of the Festas da Praia program, is a “hallmark” event.
At the opening of the event, the mayor maintained that this quality is already recognized at the national level. “The Atlantic Gastronomy Fair is a pillar of the Beach Festivities, a consolidated and accredited event in the national calendar of events promoting Portuguese gastronomy,” she said.
“An event that was recently awarded the Event of the Year Prize by the Association of Portuguese Wine Municipalities, in recognition of its quality and its contribution to the defense and promotion of national gastronomy and wines,” she continued.
Vânia Ferreira also highlighted “the work and commitment of the restaurants, charcuteries, and pastry shops that, until Monday, the 11th, will serve their best to all who come here.”
“In each of these places, you can find the best of their geographical area, offering unique and unforgettable flavors. In this edition, the Atlantic Gastronomy Fair is expanding the number of restaurants, and in the eight restaurants, you will find a variety of flavors and gastronomic experiences,” she emphasized.
The 2025 edition of the Atlantic Gastronomy Fair will feature the restaurants Taberna do Quinzena, Sr. Alguidar, Sabores do Atlântico, Dom Hernandez, Tasca Algarvia, Do Dia para a Noite, O Leitão, and a space representing the cuisine of Cape Verde, as part of the twinning of the cities of Praia da Vitória and Praia, to be formalized on Monday.
Also participating are the charcuteries Bísaro, Marquês, Alentejano, and Serra da Estrela, and the confectioneries Padaria do Largo, Amêndoa Doce, and Queijadinhas da Anita.
The mayor highlighted the role of the Praia da Vitória Professional School, a partner in organizing the event. “It is only fair that, at this time, I renew my thanks to Professor Domingos Borges, director of the Professional School, and extend my gratitude to his teams and all those who, in one way or another, contribute to making this event a success, always with the highest quality,” she said.
The Gastronomy Fair is open every day of the Festivities, opening at 12 noon.
On the same occasion, the Handicraft Fair was also inaugurated, located in the same area, in partnership with the Azores Handicraft and Design Center.
The Festivities in Praia da Vitória run until the 11th. Today is one of their highlights, with the opening parade.
