This last Sunday, November 2, marked the start of another edition of Capão Month, which will run throughout the month in restaurants in the municipality of Nordeste. This year, the initiative promoted by the local authority has attracted one more participating restaurant than in previous years, demonstrating its positive impact and relevance to the local economy.
The traditional capão dish will be served on Sundays in participating restaurants, which have responded positively to the municipality’s invitation to promote and revive a typical dish from Nordeste.
The city council’s goal is for restaurants to offer capão on their menus year-round as a unique gastronomic product that attracts more domestic tourism and visitors in general.
With each edition, the event has been gaining popularity, attracting dozens of people, mostly from outside the municipality, who visit Nordeste in November for the traditional galo-capão dish for lunch.
Capão is a free-range poultry bird, traditionally raised using the knowledge of our ancestors to ensure meat that is more tender and flavorful. In the past, it was a dish associated with December and Christmas celebrations.
