
The celebrations of the 483rd anniversary of the Municipality of São Roque do Pico began yesterday with a special concert held at the headquarters of Sociedade Recreio União Prainhense, where musician and composer Hélder Bettencourt presented the show “Celebrar a Música” (Celebrating Music), accompanied by a group of talented instrumentalists and with the special participation of soloist Jorge Almeida.
Before a packed audience, the Mayor of São Roque do Pico, Luís Filipe Silva, highlighted the importance of starting the celebrations with a moment dedicated to local culture and talent, emphasizing that it is “a source of pride and honor to see the community gathered around music and the artists who enhance our municipality.”
The mayor thanked everyone present, in particular Hélder Bettencourt, praising his artistic career and the contribution he has made to the cultural enhancement of São Roque do Pico, as well as all the musicians who made this concert possible.
The show “Celebrating Music” was a tribute to artistic expression and the connection between music and the community. Hélder Bettencourt presented a repertoire marked by emotion and authenticity, performing songs that reflect his connection to the land and its people.
The celebrations of the 483rd anniversary of the Municipality of São Roque do Pico continue today with the opening of the exhibition “Gaza: Where Death Became the Way” by Maria do Céu Brito at the Municipal Library, culminating at the end of the day with the Solemn Session Commemorating the Municipality’s Anniversary.
