The Third Migration Forum will take place today and tomorrow at the Angra do Heroísmo Interpretation Center, organized by the Regional Directorate for Communities. The opening session will feature José Andrade, Sancho Gomes, and Paulo Estêvão, followed by the inaugural conference by the Deputy Secretary of State for the Presidency and Immigration, Rui Armindo Freitas, entitled “Migration in the World, in Europe, and in Portugal.”

There will also be two panels: “Migration in the Azores,” with presentations by José Andrade, Andrea Moniz-DeSouza, Leoter Viegas, and Ana Silva, moderated by José Lourenço, and “Migration in Madeira,” with the participation of Sancho Gomes and Fabiana Sousa, moderated by Carla Félix.

Cooperation protocols will also be signed.

Tomorrow, the program begins with debates with emigrants, returnees, and immigrants.

In the afternoon, the panel “Migration and Communications” brings together RTP/Azores, Açoriano Oriental, Diário Insular, Rádio Clube de Angra, and VITEC Azores TV, moderated by Paulo Mendes. There will also be a panel discussion entitled “50 years of PALOPs,” with representatives from Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, and São Tomé and Príncipe, moderated by Sofia Lourenço.

The event will close with the official presentation of the final certificates for the Portuguese Course for Speakers of Other Languages, held in Terceira.
