The Mayor of Horta, Carlos Ferreira, was unanimously elected on Tuesday as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Municipalities of the Autonomous Region of the Azores (AMRAA).

The Board of Directors will also include António Miguel Soares (Mayor of CM Nordeste), Catarina Cabeceiras (Mayor of CM Velas), Pedro Melo (Mayor of CM Povoação), and Ana Brum (Mayor of CM Lajes Pico).

The Intermunicipal Assembly will be chaired by Vânia Ferreira (Mayor of Praia da Vitória), who will be accompanied by António Reis (Mayor of Santa Cruz da Graciosa) and Elizabete Nóia (Mayor of Santa Cruz das Flores).

“I would like to thank my fellow mayors for the vote of confidence they have given us to work on behalf of the 19 municipalities of the Autonomous Region of the Azores,” said Carlos Ferreira, emphasizing that “this is a new cycle of joint work for the integrated and sustainable development of a territory with enormous potential, the Azores.”
