Last weekend, the Angra do Heroísmo City Council attended the official opening of the Porto Judeu and Ribeirinha Christmas Markets, initiatives promoted by the respective parishes with the aim of celebrating the festive season and boosting community life.
The Porto Judeu Christmas Market, held at the Pedro Francisco Multipurpose Pavilion, brought together a diverse display of local crafts and several food stalls, creating a welcoming and festive atmosphere. The program also included concerts, sports demonstrations, storytelling, workshops, and a comedy show, promoting moments of conviviality for all ages.
The Ribeirinha Christmas Market, hosted by Casa do Povo, stood out for its strong community participation, bringing together 25 local exhibitors and enlivening the space with musical performances and different cultural moments. Both initiatives highlight the active role of parishes in promoting the local economy and creating environments conducive to bringing together neighbors, families, and visitors.
For the Mayor of Angra do Heroísmo, Fátima Amorim, “these Christmas Markets bring the spirit of the season closer to the homes of every resident, especially those who have more difficulty getting around. They are also an opportunity to showcase local talent and strengthen the relationship between the Parish Councils and their populations.”
