The Port of Funchal recorded the passage of four cruise ships this Saturday. The Spirit of Discovery, which arrived on Friday and spent the night at Pier 6 with 1,067 passengers and 561 crew members on board, was joined this morning by two MSC Cruises ships, the Musica and the Magnifica, and in the early afternoon, the Balmoral.
In total, more than 9,000 people, including passengers (6,888) and crew (3,061), passed through the Madeira Cruise Terminal on Saturday.
The first to arrive this morning was the MSC Magnifica with 3,204 people (2,205 passengers and 999 crew members). It began its entry into the port at around 7:00 a.m. and, on a stopover organized by JFM Shipping, remained in the city until 5:00 p.m. It arrived from Barcelona and is heading to Bridgetown.
It is on a 33-day voyage between Europe and the United States. It began in Rome on January 4 and, before arriving in Funchal, had already passed through Genoa, Marseille, and Barcelona. The next port of call is Bridgetown, Barbados, on January 16, followed by Grenada, the Netherlands Antilles, Colombia, and Puerto Rico. It will cross the Panama Canal on January 24, then visit Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, and finally the United States (San Diego and Los Angeles).

The MSC Musica, which came to make its usual partial turnaround, is sailing with 3,669 people (2,729 passengers and 940 crew members) and arrived at 8:00 a.m. from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. On a stopover organized by JFM Shipping, it also remained in Funchal until 5:00 p.m., making a turnaround that amounted to 370 disembarkations and 325 passenger embarkations.
It then sailed to Santa Cruz de Tenerife for a seven-day trip on the CAI itinerary: stopovers in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, and Gran Canaria.
Finally, the Balmoral, also managed by JFM Shipping, is coming to spend the night in the city. It entered the port at 3:15 p.m. from Southampton, UK, and will depart on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. for San Sebastian de La Gomera in the Canary Islands.
On board, it carries 1,067 passengers and 561 crew members for a two-week trip that will take it from La Gomera to Tenerife, Lanzarote, and Leixões, before ending in Southampton on January 20.
The Spirit of Discovery, managed by Wilhelmsen, which arrived on Friday from Portsmouth, UK, continued its journey at 3:00 p.m. to Santa Cruz de La Palma. It is on a 14-day voyage on the CAI itinerary, with stops in Tenerife, Arrecife, and Lisbon, before returning to Portsmouth on January 19.
Tomorrow, Sunday, Funchal will welcome the Arcadia and the Costa Fortuna, concludes APRAM.
