On January 6, the Municipal Executive, represented by Vice President Manuel Pimentel and Councilman Amílcar Goulart, attended a community luncheon hosted by the “Cantinho da Alegria” Senior Center, operated by the Casa do Povo das Ribeiras.
The gathering offered a warm moment of sharing and fellowship, fostering a sense of closeness and well-being while strengthening bonds of friendship and solidarity among the center’s participants. It also reinforced ties between the senior community and local elected officials. Initiatives of this kind play a particularly important role in combating social isolation, promoting social interaction, self-esteem, and quality of life among older adults.
The “Cantinho da Alegria” Senior Center plays a vital role in supporting the senior population of the parish of Ribeiras, serving as a space for gathering, organized activities, and the promotion of active aging. Its work extends beyond individual well-being to strengthening social cohesion within the parish and the municipality as a whole, recognizing older residents as an active and valued part of the community.
The presence of the Municipal Executive at this community luncheon underscores official recognition of the work carried out by the Casa do Povo das Ribeiras and highlights the importance of maintaining close relationships with local institutions that, on a daily basis, help build a more supportive, inclusive community attentive to the needs of its senior citizens.
