Rubina Leal, President of the Assembleia Legislativa da Madeira, stressed that “Presidential Elections are a decisive moment for Portugal.” Against an international backdrop marked by uncertainty, and on the eve of voting, Rubina Leal noted that voters are choosing the country’s highest officeholder—one who plays “an essential role in ensuring the stability so widely desired.”
She recalled that the 2021 presidential election recorded the highest abstention rate in recent history, underscoring the need to “reinforce the importance of civic participation and of honoring the vote, especially in a decision as crucial as today’s.”
“It is essential to exercise, in full conscience, an inalienable right that belongs to all of us—the right to vote,” she said in a statement. “This remains the most powerful tool available to every citizen to make a difference and to contribute to our collective future.”
