The situation is so unusual that it deserves special attention. Across France, at Portuguese Consulates and Honorary Consulates where polling stations are available, thousands of Portuguese citizens have already voted since Saturday morning.
The photograph published here shows the turnout this morning at the Consulate General of Portugal in Paris, although witnesses told LusoJornal that the wait is short and that voters are able to cast their ballots without any difficulty in just a few minutes.
We have also received reports of heavy turnout at the consulates in Bordeaux, Marseille, Lyon, Strasbourg, and Toulouse, as well as at the Honorary Consulates in Clermont-Ferrand, Nice, Montpellier, Orléans, and Tours.
However, there continue to be protests over the fact that the Consulate General of Portugal in Paris did not open polling stations at the Honorary Consulate in Lille or at the consular office in Nantes.
This wave of voter mobilization is also being seen in other countries, with particular emphasis on Switzerland, where a similarly high turnout has never before been recorded.
