
The President of the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, Luís Garcia, and the President of the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, will present the official program commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Azores’ Constitutional Autonomy on January 23 at 3:00 p.m., at the Palácio da Conceição in Ponta Delgada.
During the press conference, officials will also unveil the official logo created to mark the golden jubilee of the Azores’ political and democratic autonomy, established on April 2, 1976, with the entry into force of Portugal’s Constitution.
The event will also include the launch of the commemorations’ official website, which will feature a calendar of confirmed initiatives and provide regularly updated information on events to be added throughout the year.
Members of the Organizing Committee for the 50 Years of Azorean Autonomy will be in attendance. The committee is responsible for coordinating activities across the various islands, bringing together different generations of Azoreans in a program designed to honor the region’s collective memory while projecting its future within Portugal’s democratic framework.
