
Applications are open until February 28 for the FLAD Summer Program – Azores, a new summer initiative launched by FLAD in partnership with the University of the Azores and the Azores Regional Government. The program will take place July 1–17, 2026, on the São Miguel and Terceira campuses.
Aimed at Luso-American youth aged 18 to 25, the program seeks to provide in-depth engagement with the Azores’ natural, historical, and cultural heritage, strengthen ties with Azorean communities in the United States, and encourage the development of community leadership skills.
Taught in English, the program combines theoretical classes, seminars, and field trips, spanning several academic disciplines offered by the University of the Azores.
There are 20 available spots, and the program is fully funded, including travel, accommodation, and tuition. Upon arrival, participants are required to pay only a €50 registration fee.
Successful completion of the program awards 6 ECTS credits (equivalent to 3 U.S. credits), along with a bilingual certificate of participation and completion issued by the University of the Azores.

Upon arrival, participants will only have to pay a registration fee of 50 euros.
Successful completion of the course confers 6 ECTS (equivalent to 3 credits in the United States), as well as a bilingual certificate of participation and completion issued by the University of the Azores.

- CV, with emphasis on academic background, scientific and professional interests and relevant skills
- A letter of recommendation, of an academic, professional or community nature (letters from family members are not accepted)
- Motivation letter, explaining the reasons and expectations of the application, the potential for community leadership and the connection to the Azorean heritage (up to 3,000 characters with spaces)
