The Municipality of Angra do Heroísmo took part in Azores GameFest 2026, one of the largest gaming and e-sports events in the Azores, which once again brought together enthusiasts, families, and participants of all ages on Terceira Island for three days of activities, tournaments, panels, interactive areas, and hands-on technology experiences.
Azores GameFest has established itself as a leading platform for promoting digital culture, entertainment, and competitive gaming. The festival features competitions in popular titles such as Counter-Strike 2 and League of Legends, along with retrogaming activities, free-to-play zones, virtual reality experiences, workshops, and discussions on technology, content creation, and professional training.
The municipality’s support for the event aligns with its broader strategy to encourage youth participation, foster digital skills, and promote cultural inclusion in Angra do Heroísmo. City officials recognize Azores GameFest as an important meeting point and learning space for young people, families, and the wider community, while also strengthening cooperation with event organizers, educational institutions, and regional associations.

“Our commitment to Azores GameFest goes beyond offering high-quality entertainment for video game fans—especially young people,” said Guido Teles, Vice President of the Angra do Heroísmo City Council. “It is a strategic investment aimed at placing Angra do Heroísmo on the map of cities that are betting on an industry that grows more significant every year. We already have well-established local companies, such as Red Cat Pig, that export gaming products worldwide, thereby creating skilled jobs and driving economic growth. This is an example that should inspire others, because the gaming industry can thrive on our island—exporting locally created products without facing the usual logistical costs associated with shipping physical goods.”
