Câmara Municipal de Angra do Heroísmo was on hand for the reopening of the main hall at the Casa do Povo de São Bartolomeu dos Regatos, following the completion of renovation work. The event, held recently in the parish of São Bartolomeu dos Regatos, was supported by the municipality and aimed at improving the conditions of a key community facility.
The project upgraded a space of shared use that is central to parish life, improving functionality, safety, and comfort for social, cultural, and community activities. The work is part of the municipality’s ongoing support for neighborhood facilities that play an active role in local life.
Long a gathering place for residents, the Casa do Povo hosts associative, cultural, and recreational initiatives essential to social cohesion and the vitality of the parish. Reopening the hall strengthens the institution’s capacity to serve the community, encouraging intergenerational interaction and civic participation—most visibly during events such as Terceira’s Carnival.
Municipal support for projects of this kind aligns with a broader strategy to enhance the municipality through cooperation with local institutions, recognizing their contribution to the development of each parish.
“Community halls are vital assets for our parishes, serving as hubs for social and cultural life,” said Fátima Amorim. “That’s why it’s so important to support projects that allow these spaces to be continually improved and upgraded.”
