The Municipality of Angra do Heroísmo signed a cooperation agreement on Tuesday, March 10, with Portugal’s Directorate-General for Reintegration and Prison Services (DGRSP), during a public session aimed at expanding opportunities for training and integration for individuals undergoing social reintegration.
The agreement establishes a framework of collaboration that will allow, following evaluation and approval by prison services, the placement of eligible individuals in various municipal departments. The initiative seeks to help participants develop skills while emphasizing professional training and work experience as key tools in the reintegration process.
Through this institutional partnership, the municipality is reinforcing its commitment to public policies that promote social inclusion and create opportunities for active participation in community life. The program is designed for individuals in the process of rebuilding their lives, helping facilitate paths toward autonomy and responsibility while also encouraging greater public awareness of the importance of effective reintegration efforts.
Cooperation between public institutions is seen as essential to developing responses that benefit the broader community and foster a more inclusive society. Local officials believe the initiative will have a positive impact in the municipality by expanding opportunities for training and social integration.
“Social reintegration is a process that requires the involvement of both institutions and the community,” said Angra do Heroísmo Mayor Fátima Amorim. “This protocol represents an important step toward creating opportunities for training and integration, reaffirming the municipality’s commitment to policies that promote inclusion and social responsibility in our community.”
