The Nordeste Town Council concentrated its New Year’s celebrations on having the “Biggest King Cake in the Azores” as a complementary attraction to the New Year’s Eve program. The municipality aimed to attract more people outside the municipality to its accommodation units and local restaurants.
The municipality’s initiative to launch the “Biggest King Cake” (approximately 25 meters long) began in 2022 and proved to be a good bet due to the public support it received.
The New Year’s Eve entertainment in Nordeste began at 11pm, with the artist Isabelly Cotias, followed by a pyrotechnic show on the transition to 2024, with the offering of the king cake and sparkling wine. From midnight until 3AM, there was entertainment by DJ Luís Paiva, with all the celebrations taking place in Praça da República.
New Year’s Eve brought to a close the Christmas program promoted by the Câmara do Nordeste for the county seat, which took place throughout December, specifically on Fridays, with entertainment for various audiences.
