The Azores will host a free training program focused on building digital applications without the need for traditional programming skills.
The initiative, organized by the Smart Islands Hub (SIH) in partnership with the University of Madeira, ARDITI, and the NONAGON Science and Technology Park on São Miguel Island, centers on Low-Code/No-Code platforms—tools that allow users to develop digital solutions quickly and efficiently, even without a background in coding.
The training will take place on April 29–30 and May 4–5, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at NONAGON’s facilities in Lagoa. It is designed to equip professionals and organizations with practical skills to meet the growing demands of digital transformation.
Across four sessions, participants will engage with tools and methodologies that enable them to analyze workflows and create functional applications in a streamlined way. A strong hands-on component will allow attendees to develop real-world digital solutions, making technology more accessible to professionals from a wide range of fields.
The sessions will be led by David Aveiro, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Engineering at the University of Madeira, and Vítor Freitas, an information systems specialist and software engineer. Both are involved in the development of the DISME platform, which will also be presented during the training.
Participation is free of charge but requires advance registration due to limited space. Registration is available at: https://bit.ly/LC-RAA-2026.
Open to professionals from any sector, the program requires only basic computer literacy. Participants are asked to bring their own laptops.
This initiative is part of the broader work of the Smart Islands Hub (SIH), a consortium supported by Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), aimed at advancing digitalization and innovation among small and medium-sized enterprises in outermost regions.
